Gemini

On Thu, 6 Jul 2000 19:01:24 -0400,
Well my Gemini wasn't so smart, we were on top of a hill looking down over
a pasture and in wandered a Deer. Gemini didn't see it at first but when she
did she watched intently. Well the deer decided to be on her way and
Gemini being the daredevil she is felt she'd chased her. First off this is a 10
yr old Sibe with Colitis, Gastro Enternitis, Epilepsy, Diabetes, Cushings
Disease, a Neurological disorder and a bum right hind leg. Off she
goes.................half way down the hill she realizes TOO LATE that she
has no brakes. Ends up rolling arse over tea kettle about 20 feet gets
back up looks for the deer (who is half way to the next county by then). Gives
herself a shake and mosey's around waiting for me to stop laughing and come
down the hill to see if she's in one piece :) I MISS THAT BABY and LOVED
HER DEARLY, always a great souce of amuzement.

Lady Arrives

Well it seems Lady has settled in very well a week after I brought her

Saucy is an understatement in describing this elderly girl. Deaf as a
doornail but very vocal on the LOUD side LOL Stubborn as they get when it
comes to MOVING. Bit me today when I tried to move her and she got very
outta shape about it for quite a while and kept lunging at me. I couldn't
even get close enough to put a leash on her. Kinda hard when I'm yelling
bad dog and she can't hear a word I'm saying!!! LOL Oh well I guess she's
training her new owner :)

Minks are vicious

Phew had me a scare yesterday!!!! Got home in the afternoon from the local
fair and hear the dogs yapping and screaming. Ran to the backyard and saw
something sticking its head between the fence boards trying to bite at the
dogs. I ran out and looked and it was all black the size of a small cat.
Got the dogs inside and just as I was investigating my boyfriend set them
free (doesn't like the dogs in the house). So I rounded them back up, gave
him proper shit and set back to finding out what this was. Saw it was
still there so jumped off the chair I was standing on and it SHRIEKED at me!!!!!
Well the little bugger wasn't going anywhere and so I called the Wildlife
Control People. Took the dogs on a 3/4 of an hour walk got back looked
outside and nothing. The control people called later in the evening and we
figure out it was a MINK!!!!!! Apparently they are nasty, bold little
critters and will go at a full sized dog and bring them down. Well this
one drew blood off one of ours but we can't tell who and there wasn't much but
some on the fence. Apparently we have a few MINK farms around us and
occasionally they will escape. Thank god I decided to go with the full
wooden fence instead of invisible fencing or chain link or I could have
been looking at some large vet bills or lost one of my babies.

LOL this reminds me. My girlfriend and I LOVED our french fries. So one
day we are in the kitchen and she decided to cook up a batch for us to eat
for lunch. Oh we are waiting and watching and somehow from the counter to
the table a giant furball ended up in amongst the fries. So we stared at
each other and then reached for the fries and picked off the hair!!!!!!!!!
LMAO I know I don't have a lot of dignity LOL

My Story

My story would be of my first Siberian, Gemini May Keema. After I lost
the dog I grew up with (Kemo) I was not sure I wanted another as I had been so
attached to the first. My husband (ex now) decided he was going to get one so I
insisted that I pick it since I knew I would be taking care of it. So I
knew I'd always wanted a Siberian Husky, researched the breed, researched
breeders and we decided on one and went to see her puppies. Well I fell in love
immediately with a little girl with one brown eye and one half brown/half
blue eye. We bought her but left her there until she was over 2 months as we
had a holiday planned. Well my sweet baby was adorable, head strong, saucy, and
a hellion from day one but her personality was awesome. She was less than a
year when my husband left me the first time, and she helped me thorough it, even
though I knew her heart was breaking as she would walk around the house at
bed time crying with a squeak toy in her mouth every night. Well they guy came
back and then did the same thing a year later and that was that. Gemini
took it better this time but it was hard as my time to give her attention was
very small now as I worked longer hours then my ex. She adjusted well to all
the new boyfriends and was riding home with my from the cottage when my
boyfriend (now ex) lost control of his 79 Corvette and spun around and went over the
side of the road where we were caught by the road side guard for that area as
it has a creek down about 20 ft. We took out a number of poles and the wire
holding the polls together ripped off the roof of the car and hung me but my
biggest stroke of luck came in the form of my dog being fine expect for a sore leg
and the fact she did not run away but stayed near the accident site with me (I
have no memory of the accident or that summer). She got into the tow truck
drivers vehicle without a problem (she was very shy of men) and waited for my
uncle to come and pick her up at a garage (she must have been in shock). She was
brought to visit me in the hospital when I got out of ICU a few weeks
later but was afraid of me as I had a Halo vest on for my broken neck and the head
injuries had left me very child like in my actions. She was passed from
one to another person while I stayed with my parents who took care of me for three
months. She didn't mind. She saved me numerous times over the last 7
years since that accident as depression ruled my life for quite a large amount of
that time and they had a hard time getting it under control, when ever I
was suicidal the one thing that kept me alive was my precious Gemini, who would
take care of her? who would understand all the diseases this dog was
ridden with from day one (breeder disappeared). Only me so I stayed. She was
there for me when both my Grandmothers passed away in the same week a year after
my accident and when my Dad passed away a month later. She put up with my
temper tantrums (yes I even hit my poor baby when I was left at home to recuperate
from my head injury all alone, and with strangely no control of my
emotions). She'd always comes to me when I cried and sits at my feet patiently
waiting for my touch and my comfort to tell her I'm okay. I feel her health is
sometimes tied to mine as when I'm not well, she usually gets sick too. Anyway she
has battled Colitis, Gastro Enteritis, Epilepsy since we got her (she is 11
now) and in her later years developed diabetes and cushings disease as well as a
neurological disorder. She's almost totally bald except for her head and
legs so I made shirts and sweaters for her so she doesn't get frost bite or
sunburn. I've spent about $40,000 to keep her alive and HAPPY but I would
have sold my house and everything I own for her as she has always given me
unconditional love. With all the proper attention she has lived a long and
wonderful life and is enjoying her new country home where she roams free
(hip displaced a few winters ago, can't operate because of diabetes) and is the
lord and master of the house over the other three dogs. She goes to my Moms
often as my Mom loves her dearly and she tolerates my Moms cats and never chases
them anymore. She has been through more with me but this is getting like a
book so I'll just tell you she is my best friend and I love her very much. Her
happiness is my Number #1 priority :) Now I have to go get some kleenex :)

My first husky Gemini (now 11) loved to play with the cows next door at my
best friends house. She would taunt them and run at them but see she could
get through the fence to safety when she wanted and they couldn't. Well
she was only about 4 or 5 months old at the time. I can't tell you the number
of times she worked the bull up into a frenzy and I thought for sure he was
going to bring the fence down to get to her. As she grew, she decided she liked
to HERD them, all well and good but the farmer would have shot her on site for
making his beef tough LOL Last time she had a good run at another animal
was here in her new home, she was on a hill and a deer came up underneath us
she watched and watched when it began to leave she tore down the hill we were
on (pretty high) and being older with lots of diseases and a bad leg this
wasn't a wise idea, she tried to stop and rolled arse over tea kettle for about 15
feet. Jumped back up and looked for the deer who was long gone, then
looked at me like I meant to do that!!!!!!!!!!

My female would always lay beside the tub when I was in it and eat the soap

dressed for work and every morning like clockwork she's be laying at the end of
the bed and would sneeze on me!!!!! I ask you what the heck is with that?

my black and white siberian BROWN!!!!!! She had rolled all over the floor
in what ever oil and guk she could find. I took her home photographed her
before and after and had a long shower with her :)

Jayke Is Here, Red Malamute saved in honour of anothers passing.

On Sat, 24 Mar 2001 18:35:36 -0500, Jayke Is Here, Red Malamute saved in honour of anothers passing.

Molly thank you so much for all your hard work :) Al dropped her off and
stayed for coffee and we chatted while Jayke settled in :) She's met a few
of the other dogs and no problem ;)

Its going to take me a bit to get used to the SIZE of her :) 100lbs + and
adorable. She is presently walking around the house getting used to things
and I'm trying to keep her on ONE LEVEL so as not to strain her hind legs
which are weak. YEP a good grooming is in order and she sees the Vet first
thing Monday morning for a checkup :)

She seems very good natured, OH OH She's barking BRB, everything is OKAY
she was just talking to the sibes on the other side of the glass :) I'm
thinking she's going to be a talker :) Tried to get her to get on the
couch but wasn't interested, she did however find a rawhide and got all giddy and played with it and then settled down for a good chew ;)

She's panting quite a bit right now but I'm guessing she's a wee bit
stressed from the move OH OH she's checking out the bathroom toilet, OH MY
GOD SHE HAD LADY IN HER they both like to drink outta the toilet :)

Keep you up to date :)
